What is the difference between IP65, IP67 and IP68 waterproof LED Strips
- IP65 LED Tape is using epoxy glue covered on the printed circuit board and all LEDS. Being IP65 rated it is (6) totally protected against dust and (5) protected against low pressure jets of water sprayed from all directions, limited ingress.
- IP67 uses a silicon tube to cover the LED Strips, with caps at both ends fully sealing the strip. So IP67 means that the LED strip light is totally protected against dust and protected against the effects of immersion between 15cm and 1m.
- IP68 waterproof is for the waterproof LED Tape, easily sited underwater such as in a pool or pond. The silicon tube covers it and a layer of epoxy glue between the led tape and tube coats it. IP68 is the highest IP rating we offer for the LED strip lights and it offers total protection against dust and it is protected against longer periods of immersion under pressure.
Can I cut the LED Tape into pieces at any length?
Yes and no, flexible led tapes can be cut every 50mm, but it cannot be cut to any length. Each cutting point needs to be 50mm apart. Most LED tapes mark the cutting point making it very easy to cut to desired lengths for your project.
How to mount the LED Tape
LED Tape can be simply mounted, the IP20 or IP68 rated versions use the easy to use 3M adhesive double side glue at the back of the product. So when you have the tape where you want it, simply peel off the 3M label layer and there you go, a simple and easy process.
What is the difference between warm white and white led tape?
We often get asked this question as warm white and white are the most widely used two colours for LED Tape, the answer is that the white colour has a coldish tone, and the warm white colour is a little yellowish warmer tone.
What is the quality like for the LED Tape?
The quality of these products is excellent and they boast an operating lifespan of between 25,000 to 50,000 hours. Putting this into a real world scenario, say we operate the lights for 8 hours a day, well that would give a lifespan of between 8 years and 17 years. That is operating at extremely low power usage and with very little maintenance. A real install and forget product.
Is LED Tape Dimmable?
Yes, all you need is a 12V DC LED dimmer switch connected between the power switch and the led tape
